The Supernatural Crossroads is a fan supersite highlighting the unique content and activities of the fandom through three promient fan sites. Together, we're making it easier for fans to get the best information about this amazing show in one place. The host sites of the Supernatural Crossroads are:
Heather and Lindsay co-founded www.SupportSupernatural.com immediately when there was fear that Supernatural would be cancelled after the second season concluded. Thankfully, the show was renewed and "Save Supernatural" evolved into "Support Supernatural." The goal of the website has never changed. Our goal is to promote Supernatural while also helping charities. Over the years we have encouraged folks to promote the show in various ways: -Vote for the show in every poll and every awards show -Contact TV talk show hosts to encourage them to interview stars of the show -Send "thank you" post cards to companies that advertise during the show -Tell friends to watch -Purchase items in our Café Press store to not only promote the show, but also help A Dog's Life Rescue (100% of the store's commission go directly to the charity). Fundraising for charity is a big part of what we do. In 2008, we raised over $6,000 for charity. In 2009, we raised over $17,000 and in 2010, we have a goal of $30,000. Our continual goal with fundraising is to generate positive publicity for Supernatural as a fandom. Supernatural without a doubt has the most passionate fans in the world!
The Winchester Family Business was launched in December 2008 by Alice and John Jester. The site came to be because Alice needed another forum to expand her popular feature on blogcritics.org, The Winchester Family Business. She needed a forum to do very detailed episode recaps (7,000 to 10,000 words) loaded with screencaps, articles with video clips, polls, and plenty of fun diversiony stuff that wasn't exactly proper for blogcritics. The Winchester Family Business is meant to expand the fan experience by really digging deep into the world of Supernatural plus have loads of fun doing it. It's also meant to be a site of level minds and common sense, a place where a lurker can feel welcome. We encourage constructive opinions and respectful attitudes. The show isn't perfect, but constant griping and negativity kills the fan experience. We love our show for what it is and we want to share that love. In Spring 2009, elle2 joined the site as the other feature writer along with Alice. When the summer "hellatus" hit, we ended going a little overboard after several fans lamented how painful the long drought of episodes was going to be. We started posting daily, determined to get through the hellatus together. We did Top Ten lists, character essays, analysis of prior seasons, fan activities like trivia and spotting Winchester signs, and weird stuff like pointing out the serious flaws in Sam Winchester's hair or pulling out all those Dean Winchesterisms that make him an icon. The site exploded, especially after Alice got to go to Comic Con in July and do interviews at the Supernatural press event. When the hellatus ended, the demand was too great. We had to keep going at this crazy pace. Luckily, there were several other brilliant minds that decided they wanted to share in the fun, all coming from a wide variety of backgrounds. There are ten writers on The Winchester Family Business now and growing. Most articles on the site are not the garden variety 500 word blog posts. Nope, they've got girth. We've also found there's no shortage of material in regards to our favorite show and we could keep this up for years. Or at least as long as people want to read. Lately, that's been in droves. In January 2010, we hit a record 1.1 million page hits. Fifty percent of our traffic is outside the US, proving without a doubt that Supernatural is indeed an International sensation.
Winchester Bros. presents up to date, reliable and accurate news on all aspects of the show Supernatural and a variety of both previous and current cast and crew and episodic topics, such as the songs featured. The site also has exclusive interviews, articles and videos, including the latest, a short video featuring Jensen and Jared reaffirming that they do not belong to any online social network site, i.e. Twitter or Facebook. We maintain galleries of still photos and screencaps for Supernatural episodes, and for movies and television shows past and current for cast members Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. There are also reviews, a calendar and a section for spoilers. Winchester Bros. maintains a strong and up to the minute presence on Twitter and Facebook, has accounts at YouTube, and Myspace and is proud to host the weekly podcast, Winchester Radio, featuring episode discussions and cast or related interviews. Winchester Bros. is also honored to present, participate in and/or co-sponsor (for example, previously with supernatural.tv for “Supernatural Will Not Get Lost!”), internet campaigns that offer ways to celebrate and support Supernatural, such as the recent 100th Episode Fundraising Campaign to benefit A Dog’s Life Rescue. The site also maintains message boards for fans to post on various show topics and characters. The Impala Tales icon will take you to the fan fiction area of the site.
